Another avenue you may explore on how to measure ring size is calling in for backup! If you don't mind letting a friend or family member in on the big surprise, then you could ask if they know your partner's ring size, or they may even give you advice on how to measure their ring size. There's no shame in asking for help, especially when you will make their day by sharing your secret!

This is where the double agent style comes into play. Call ahead and tell us what you need, and then bring your partner with you to “have an existing piece cleaned” (this is free). While your partner is asleep, you can get creative. Beware if they are a light sleeper, proceed with caution! You can use a piece of string, or if you feel confident, you could use a  measuring tape. Before executing this method, ensure you know that the measurement you want is located on the left hand and the fourth finger!
